The company Chestnut was founded by Emily Blyde, who opened the salon at just age 19. From a very young age Emily knew hairdressing was her passion. Emily started working in salons after school, weekends and holidays from the young age of 13, her teachers at school said she 'was too clever to be just a hairdresser' - she didn't care this was her passion and as soon as she left school she went straight to North Hertfordshire Hairdressing college and obtained a Diploma in hairdressing, she then found a salon in old Welwyn and carried out an apprenticeship with Hertford regional college, there she won the award of young apprentice of the year! whilst training Emily attended various specialist courses in London which she loved! Emily then began working for different salons and gaining experience. Once Emily was fully confident she then decided to start her own business 'Chestnut'. Straight from work Emily would go to home hair clients and became increasingly popular, sometimes not getting home till extremely late...she didn't care as she loved what she did. Her business grew and it came to the point were Emily left the salon she was working in altogether. Emily continued further training in London and continued putting smiles on her clients faces!
