Our roots in the Charltons family business go back to 1903, when Frank Charlton started his wood and timber business in Somerset. That business grew into what is now AJ Charltons & Sons Limited, the leading manufacturer and supplier of 5-bar timber gates in the UK, with customers including the National Trust, English Heritage, the Royal Estates and the Glastonbury Festival. The Charltons family has been involved in the design, manufacture and supply of furniture for a generation. However, the association of the family business with the furniture sector goes back to before the Second World War and after, when specialist walnut, elm and yew timbers were supplied to the leading companies of the day such as Ercol, Reylon, Airsprung and Titchmarsh & Goodwin.
