Modern families often need more space as the children grow up and have their own friends at home or to stay over. One option is to move house — quite a daunting task given the current economic times and depressed housing market. House prices are static at best and whilst the house that you would like to move into may seem a bit of a bargain on paper, you are going to have to market your house at an equally reduced price and it might have to be on the market for some time before attracting a potential buyer. The other option is to make more space in your current home by having the loft converted. Almost any house can have its attic converted and, even a small house will end up with at least an additional bedroom. Or those with larger houses might end up with a bedroom with en-suite bathroom, or an office/study with a shower room, or a kids playroom with toilet off.
