Following a teaching career of almost twenty years during which I completed my PhD in nutritional science I then completed my training as a psychologist. My undergraduate psychology degree was completed at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). My postgraduate psychology degree was completed at the prestigious Bond University on the Gold Coast. Both of these universities are in Queensland Australia. After graduating with a first prize for work associated with my research thesis I also completed an MSc in Counselling. I worked at a private psychiatric hospital in south Brisbane and then with ‘Paradise Kids’ an organization that specializes in grief and trauma counselling in Brisbane. In the UK I have since worked in private practice and with the NHS as a specialist in Learning Disabilities; and in Adult Mental Health. My work with CCAPS is diverse. I engage in medico legal work, reports for the courts including assessments of parents and children in suspected abuse or neglect situations, insurance claims, and assessments for individuals with learning disabilities; as well as helping people who feel anxious or depressed, or who have undergone trauma and may be feeling the effects of PTSD. My therapeutic work with parents and children is often via contract to Local Authorities (LA).
