In 2012, Kerrie experienced some personal difficulty and in consequence to this started to lose hair, which she found devastating. Kerrie had always had full, long and healthy hair and was finding hiding her hair loss very difficult. In researching methods to cover her hair loss Kerrie discovered hair extensions, which as a solution not only created extra hair but also gave her a major boost in confidence and self esteem. From this experience Kerrie developed a passion for hair extensions and over time the use of hair extensions were becoming increasingly popular and in demand. Kerrie therefore made the decision to utilise her skills and develop them further by training in hair extensions and provide it as an additional service within the Capelli Lounge, with the aim of helping people feel good about their hair again. In doing this, Capelli Lounge grew rapidly and as a small business required a larger premises and more staff. To facilitate this growth, in 2013 Kerrie opened a new Capelli Lounge, situated on the main high street, Market Street, Westhoughton. Kerrie’s second passion is education and in order to influence this into the salon she has recruited staff with no experience and instead mentored and taught aspiring new stylists. So far she has recruited a new qualified stylist, now senior stylist (level 2 and 3 qualified) and two apprentices who are currently completing their level 2 in hairdressing. Alongside helping them to complete their qualifications, Kerrie has been very much involved in her staffs; training, teaching, mentoring and professional development from an early stage and has ensured a nurturing salon environment for them to work and develop in.
