J F Buckingham Limited was founded at the turn of the century by John Frederick Buckingham, initially for the manufacture of light car engines at premises in Coventry then later moving on with the development of optical instruments and general press work and machining. The J F Buckingham offices were based in Kenilworth and boasted at the time a modern building and machine shop. Through progression the Company embarked on a number of new ventures, which ranged from metal tape presses and machined aircraft and motor components, tracer bullets and in later years this progressed to water tankers. In the late 1950’s the manufacture of fibreglass pools was evolved within the Buckingham Group, which eventually lead to the creation of Buckingham Swimming Pools Limited and the company was one of the founder members of the then Association of Swimming Pool Contractors.
