There has been a veterinary practice at the site in Ellesmere for many years, but Blakemere Veterinary Centre was established in purpose built premises in 1998. We now employ 7 full and part time veterinary surgeons and a total of 9 nurse, reception and support staff. The practice opened its branch, Maelor Veterinary Centre in Overton-on-Dee in 2005. From this site we provide small animal consultations and a prescription collection point for all clients. Animals requiring hospitalisation or operations are admitted to the main site in Ellesmere. The practice initially registered for the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme in 2007. General Practice Status was achieved in all areas covered by the practice, (i.e. small animal, farm practice and equine) and has been successfully renewed since then.
