There are numerous hatha yoga postures, with hundreds of variations, which work to make the spine supple and to promote circulation in all the organs, glands and tissues. Hatha yoga postures also stretch and align the body, promoting balance and flexibility. Yin Yoga is a gentle form of hatha yoga that targets a deep release of connective tissue, ligaments, joints, bone and cartilage. The practice works deep into the hips, pelvis,shoulders and spine and over time can lengthen the connective tissue, increasing range of motion. I often incorporate yin postures in my classes.
